Made in Durham seeks nominations for young people ages 14-24 to represent the diverse faces and experiences of young people in Durham by serving on the Made in Durham Youth Network.
The Youth Network comprises up to 35 members each year who advise the work of the partnership in creating an education-to-career system that ensures all Durham young people complete high school, earn a post-secondary credential and secure a career by age 25. Youth Network members serve on Made in Durham’s board of directors, Advisory Team, action teams and task forces, and they pursue action teams at their schools to remove barriers of racial equity that inhibit student success.

Dan McKinney, Made in Durham’s youth engagement strategist, who coordinates the Youth Network, is reaching out to youth-serving organizations to solicit nominations for youth to serve on next year. Youth Network members identified these missing voices they particularly want to engage as new members: young people involved in the justice system, young parents, black and Latino young men and young people who have graduated from Durham Public Schools but are not currently enrolled in post-secondary education.
Nominated young people will be invited to attend one of our community interest meetings to be held in May. Young people who are interested will complete a statement of interest form. Youth Network members will review those and select the next cohort of members by mid-July.
