Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina President and CEO Patrick Conway, M.D., and Capitol Broadcasting Vice President of Real Estate Michael Goodmon have joined the board of directors of Made in Durham.
The board of the Made in Durham nonprofit steers a community partnership of educators, business, government, youth-serving nonprofits and young people creating an education-to-career pipeline that ensures all Durham youth are prepared to enter a rewarding career by age 25, helping build a strong local talent pipeline.
Patrick Conway
Conway has served as the BCBSNC top executive since December 2017. Previously, he was deputy administrator for innovation and quality at the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). As the most senior non-political leader at CMS, he worked in both Republican and Democratic administrations and is considered one of the driving forces behind the national movement to value-based care, with health care payments tied to quality and innovation.
He is a practicing pediatric hospitalist and was selected as a master of hospital medicine from the Society of Hospital Medicine. Before joining CMS, he oversaw clinical operations, quality improvement, and research at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.
Conway completed his pediatrics residency at Harvard Medical School’s Children’s Hospital Boston, graduated with high honors from Baylor College of Medicine, and graduated summa cum laude from Texas A&M University.
Michael Goodmon
Goodmon leads one of the country’s most dynamic urban mixed-use developments, the American Tobacco Campus in Durham.
As the campus’ owner and master developer, he manages the day-to-day activities of approximately 1,000,000 square feet of class A office, restaurant and retail space. Goodmon has assembled a multitude of complex Historic and New Market Tax Credit transactions.
He earned a B.S. in Mathematical Economics from Hampden-Sydney College and a Masters in Trust and Investment Management from Campbell University.
