Deanna Knighton

Deanna Knighton serves as career development strategist, working with students and staff at Durham Futures partner sites to develop career development activities, coordinating work-based learning experiences, and developing strategies for career readiness in Durham.

She brings years of experience advising and teaching a diverse population of students and developing curricula. She has held career advising and various roles at Wake Technical Community College, William Peace University, NC State University, University of Florida, and Santa Fe Community College.

She is the 2019-2020 president of the N.C. Career Development Association, a division of the N.C. Counseling Association comprising professionals in the field of career counseling and development. She will serve as past president during 2020-2021.

Knighton holds a master’s degree in higher education administration from NC State.
