Many of our young people in Durham are not graduating from high school and are not prepared for the career opportunities that are available in our community.

The roots of poverty, poor health, crime and low achievement grow from poor educational outcomes. When young people don’t graduate from high school and fail to learn skills needed for good careers, the outcomes are dire for themselves, their families and their communities.

Made in Durham is working to address these problems by aligning our government, education and nonprofit institutions to ensure that all of our young people graduate from high school prepared to secure credentials and participate in our economy.

Partners are reengaging young people who have dropped out of school, working with schools and businesses to strengthen career pathways and providing a pipeline from education to careers.

We help young people make the connection between education and the ability to earn higher wages. Research shows that when young people make these linkages, they are much more likely to stay in school and achieve post-secondary credentials that qualify them for careers.

Our community needs this partnership to ensure a sustained effort among businesses, educators, government agencies, youth-serving nonprofits and young people that creates lasting change.

Your donation to Made in Durham will help ensure successful educational outcomes and careers for all Durham youth.

Please join our community of investors and give generously to ensure that all young people who are “made in Durham” have the opportunity to succeed!
